What is in a Bare Fare bar?
Bare Fare bars use only whole or minimally processed ingredients (like house-pureed whole dried fruit); we will never use anything that you couldn’t easily recognize or pronounce! We are committed to minimizing waste and source over 90% of our ingredients from one of Hong Kong’s first zero-waste stores. Whenever possible we use organic ingredients and are endeavouring to become 100% organic as soon as possible.
Do Bare Fare bars contain gluten?
Short answer … a little bit. Longer answer ... one of the key ingredients in Bare Fare bars are whole, toasted oats – which are naturally gluten-free. However, oats are often processed in facilities that also process gluten-containing grains or come into contact with them in storage or during transportation. Bare Fare bars are certainly a low-gluten food, but out of respect and concern for our customers with gluten sensitivity, we do not claim to be gluten-free.
How should I store my Bare Fare bars? What is the shelf life?
Because Bare Fare bars are made using fresh dried fruit purees, they do best stored chilled – either in the fridge for up to 1 week or the freezer for up to 2 months. You can eat them straight from the fridge or freezer (once they warm up to room temperature for optimal taste). They do just fine for a day out of the fridge and can survive whatever commute or activity you throw at them (they taste great even when a bit smooshed).
Tell me about this wrapping paper. Can I reuse it?
We use beeswax paper to wrap all of our Bare Fare bars and it is definitely re-usable! Once the beeswax coating is gone, you can feel confident disposing of it as it is also 100% biodegradable.
